City Center Community Plan

Making Renton's Downtown a great place to live, work, and play.

The City's goal for Downtown Renton is to create a pedestrian-oriented area that contains a lively mix of residential, office, retail, and entertainment opportunities within walking distance of each other. The downtown vision is embodied in the City Center Community Plan, which details future growth goals and objectives for Downtown as one of five interrelated subareas.

The City of Renton recently hired the national, multi-disciplinary firm of MIG to develop the Downtown Civic Core Vision and Action Plan. MIG was selected following the City's release of a request for proposals to develop a visionary master plan for Downtown's Civic Core and surrounding areas, as plans move forward to relocate downtown transit operations to a new center at Grady and Rainier. The project will include a significant number of opportunities for community input and participation. The next Downtown Design Day is Tuesday, June 6, 2017 at the Renton Pavilion. Come check out some fresh ideas for streets and buildings, and discover how we can make Civic Core event better. Visit the project website, www.rentonciviccore.com, for more information on the project and how interested parties can be involved.
