Congratulations to Downtown’s Cortona Building

Winner of the 2016 King County Executive’s John D. Spellman Award for Exemplary Achievement in Historic Preservation, Rehabilitation Category!

On Thursday, October 13th, Monica and Dave Brethauer, owners of the Cortona Building located at 724 S. 3rd Street, were presented with the 2016 King County Executive’s John D. Spellman Award for Exemplary Achievement in Historic Preservation, Rehabilitation Category. The award was presented by County Executive Dow Constantine at the 16th annual awards ceremony held at the newly rehabilitated Cortona Building. Mayor Denis Law welcomed over 60 guests to Downtown to celebrate historic preservation achievements throughout King County. The award recognizes excellence in rehabilitating historic buildings while keeping the building’s historic nature intact.
